“Hungry eh? Order food now through our app.”
“A new menu everyday. Exotic dishes from over the world!”
“Order from your favourite neighbourhood restaurant.”
“Don’t want to cook? Order food in 3 easy steps.”
“All day menu! Order sandwiches and coffee.”

Seems familiar? The online food ordering scene is bustling with so many players. New food delivery apps are being launched everyday. We kid you not! We did a google search for “online food ordering apps Bangalore” and the list went on and on and on… you get the point? Good for us hungry souls, you know.

To make it easier for Bangaloreans to choose an app, we have come up with our take on 11 of the online food ordering apps or websites in Bangalore –

1. Eatlo

Eatlo

They have a daily changing menu. Food is prepared by professional in house chefs. The app looks clean and easy. Choose a location, choose a dish and place your order – that simple. They should be careful not to let the menu become too repetitive and should keep introducing new dishes – few at a time, maybe.

Areas Served – 15 localities including far flung ones like Electronics City and ITPL

What we like – Easy, intuitive app flow.

2. FreshMenu

FreshMenu

They serve lunch, dinner and all day salads and snacks too. No breakfast or late night delivery though. The menu changes every day and an in house team of chefs prepares food. Food on the menu covers cuisines from all over the world. We order this at work, almost every week and we feel that while the food is packed really well and service is good, the menu is becoming a little repetitive.

Areas Served – MG Road, Richmond Town, Langford Town, Indiranagar, Domlur, Marathahalli, JP Nagar, Jayanagar, Bannerghata Road, HSR Layout, Bellandur, Sarjapur Road and Whitefield.

What we like – One can add and store multiple delivery addresses from the app. The packaging is sturdy.

3. TinyOwl

TinyOwl

The app looks classy.  It detects your location. You can then choose to select a restaurant close to you then order from their menu or choose dishes from the restaurants in your area. Their packaging is super cute. We love those owls. They will need to keep a handle on the delivery times and customer service has to be exemplary, especially since they deal with restaurants which are external vendors.

Areas Served – Displays a list depending on your current location. You can also choose a different location from where you currently are.

What we like – Has a huge variety of food – starters, snacks, main courses and drinks because of all the restaurants it has on the app. Displays minimum orders for each restaurant clearly. You can sort or search by a variety of criteria.

4. Zomato

Zomato

“Never have a bad meal”  says their tag line. The brand/app has been there for quite some time and has a big user base which helps establish trust in terms of restaurant reviews and quality. They have started the “Zomato Order” service recently though. Time will tell if the order service will be the best or will succumb to the whims and fancies of the restaurant folks.

Areas Served – Covers a wide range of areas in the city. The order online/via app shows you the restaurants that deliver to your locality.

What we like – Has a lot of strong review backed restaurant listings and real recommendations that have been built over a period of time. Their collections feature is engaging. You can follow your order real time.

5. Faasos

Faasos

Faasos used to serve wraps and roles before they got into the food making and delivery business recently. A quick look at their app shows that they have a lot of delivery localities in the city. They also have take-away facility in addition to delivery. They serve breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner. 4 meals a day, 365 days a year as they say.

Areas Served – You name it and they have it. Almost everywhere in Bangalore.

What we like – On their app, they have a “Help & Support” feature in built, where you can chat live with their support team.

6. Swiggy

Swiggy

It is an app where you can order from restaurants near you. You can order from a wide variety of restaurants in an area, Swiggy’s delivery executive picks it up and delivers it to you. You pay for the food only when you get it.

Areas Served – We couldn’t see a list of areas they serve currently, but the app/website will tell you if they serve your area or not.

What we like – A big list of restaurants in each area they are operating in.

7. SpoonJoy

What we like – They have a web as well as a mobile app which makes it convenient.

8. Dazo
Dazo

Dazo is the first curated food demand platform. You can order a meal from a local food entrepreneur with just 3 taps on their Android app. They serve lunch, snacks and dinner. So basically if you want a dosa from Adigas or a Subway 6 inch, they will deliver it. Not everything on the menu of a local restaurant is offered. But a smaller curated list of items are available.

Areas Served – They serve MG Road, Indiranagar, Koramangala, CV Raman Nagar, BTM Layout and HSR Layout as of now.

What we like – The dazoPulse, dazoIndulge and dazoDelight feature which lets you choose different food items under each type.

9. foodpanda

foodpanda

foodpanda is an online food ordering website and app where you can choose from lots of menus and place your order. Food is then picked up from that neighbouring restaurant and delivered. You can pay by card, cash or online banking. The website is open from 11 am to 11 pm from Monday to Saturday. During off hours you can browse through restaurants and place an order for later.

10. Eatfresh

A very new entry into the food delivery websites in Bangalore is Eatfresh. They deliver great meals by top chefs. There working hours are 12 pm to 10:30 pm. The menu changes every day and the website mentions which chef has prepared each dish. The chefs have had extensive experience in various premium restaurants.

Areas Served – They serve 7 areas right now – Sarjapur Road,  HSR Layout, Haralur Road, Bellandur, Central Jail Road and Kaikondrahalli.

What we like – The menu offers a good mix of Indian and International cuisine.

11. Bhukkad

bhukkad

Another website only food delivery service is Bhukkad. They have a daily changing full menu and meal boxes. The full menu serves only 4 areas as of now. They offer sandwiches, salads, burgers and beverages. The meal bag is served in Electronics City, in addition to the 4 locations. It usually consists of a sandwich, salad and a side. You can pre-order a meal/meal bag when the website is not open.

Areas Served – BTM Layout, HSR Layout, Koramangala, Roopena Agrahara for the full menu. Meal bags can be served in Electronics City also.

What we like – We love their blog. It is fun and quirky and has some cool food ideas.

What we observed – One, most of the food delivery apps and websites seem to be focussing delivery in the often repeated areas – MG Road, Koramangala, HSR Layout, Indiranagar. There are hungry souls in the other areas of the city too. Get your first mover advantage there.

Two, there are very few players for early breakfast and late night snack options. That is another open area. Anybody listening?

All this food talk has made us hungry. We shall and go order some food. How about you? Go on now and explore, try, taste. Share your experiences and spread word. Bond with people over food! Do check out all the food events happening in Bangalore! Happy Eating!
