The Daan Utsav (previously Joy of Giving Week) is India’s “Festival of Giving”! Launched in 2009, the festival is celebrated every year, in the week including Gandhi Jayanti, i.e., October 2-8, and brings together Indians from all walks of life, to celebrate “Giving” – In whatever form or manner they choose to- Be it time, money or skills- to someone less privileged. It has marked the beginning of what will hopefully become a part of our Indian culture and ethos.
A concerted effort across NGOs, companies, celebrities, media, schools, colleges, housing societies and the “aam junta”… Daan Utsav is a 100% volunteer driven initiative. It is neither an organization, nor an NGO. Participation is free, open to all, and one can give anything from 1 piece of clothing to lacs of rupees, a few hours of one’s skills to a day or two of one’s time.
EventsHigh is honored to support the Daan Utsav initiative. Giving you more ideas to Give this Daan Utsav!
